Speaking in most basic economic terms, high demand and shortage of supply creates high prices for artworks. Did you know a lock of David Bowie's hair sold for $18,750 at auction? Seriously? Glasswork is valued on shortage of supply as well. Usually, pieces are one of a kind, unique and labor intensive. You will not go to Walmart and pick fine art off of a shelf. If you like it, it has value.

This is the time of year I start thinking about the St. Lawrence River, 1000 Islands in Upstate NY. I'm blessed to own a home there, where I work during the summer months. Freighters are a regular site traveling up and down the Seaway. Freighter Relish Dish
The diamond shape terrarium was one of the hardest to manipulate but stunning when it was done. These can be planted with live plants, but if the soil is saturated, they do have a tendency to leak. I prefer to plant succulents, where they don't require much watering and a spray bottle to moisten the soil would be more than enough. 2017 will be very exciting for my glass enthusiasts . Lots of unique projects are underway. For my Great Lakes/St. Lawrence River friends, you'll be seeing freighter plates of all sizes and shapes. Available for sale on the St. Lawrence and on this website. Coming soon!
Mirror and brass do not mix. I had the misfortune of finding that out the hard way. Mirror is silver on the inside, with clear glass on top and a sealed back. When the mirror is cut, the silver edge is exposed to the brass came, which will cause a chemical reaction and what I call a "bleed through". Applying a heavy, mirror protector/sealant to the edges prevents the silver from touching the brass and all is well.
