Mirror and brass

Mirror and brass do not mix.  I had the misfortune of finding that out the hard way.  Mirror is silver on the inside, with clear glass on top and a sealed back.  When the mirror is cut, the silver edge is exposed to the brass came, which will cause a chemical reaction and what I call a "bleed through".  Applying a heavy, mirror protector/sealant to the edges prevents the silver from touching the brass and all is well.
